PewDiePie Hits YouTube Milestone

YouTube star Felix Kjellburg, aka PewDiePie, has just reached a YouTube first.

PewDiePie has broken the 10 billion view count announced earlier today via Twitter. Even more impressive is the fact that 10 million views were added on top of that figure before he could even send out his celebratory tweet.

PewDiePie’s channel was started five years ago and was an essential part of popularizing the now prominent “Let’s Play” videos, a topic Jimmy Kimmel recently found some controversy in. Today his channel sits atop the YouTube throne, being the most subscribed to channel with around 39 million subscribers and averaging 300 million views per month.

The view count milestone exemplifies how far ahead he is over fellow YouTubers. The second most subscribed to channel, HolaSoyGerman, currently boasts around an impressive 2 billion views but nowhere close to YouTube’s king.
