Atlus, the studio behind Megami Tensei, Persona, and the Etrian Odyssey franchises has announced that they will finally be bringing one of their latest titles to this side of the globe. The Japanese developer, publisher, and distributor has stated that Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth will making its move over to the United States this Summer. Persona Q2 is a spin-off focusing on the Phantom Thieves from Persona 5. An official description of the story reads:
The Phantom Thieves are on another adventure as they find themselves trapped within a series of labyrinthine movies, each with its own unique twists and turns themed after various movie genres. Along the way, you’ll encounter other like-minded heroes who possess the will and strength to help you in your journey. But who is this mysterious girl Hikari, and how will everyone escape from this cinematic entanglement that transcends time and space!?
The crossover style RPG was originally released this past fall in Japan for the Nintendo 3DS. The game will contain other characters from other entries within the series. Within this sequel players will take control of Joker the protagonist from Persona 5, and aim to make their way through movie themed dungeons while bumping into other notable characters from Persona 3, Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4, as well as Persona 5.
In addition to the announcement of the game’s movement to the West, Atlus also revealed a special “Showtime Premium Edition” for the game. This special edition boasts a Koromaru plush, an art book, a collectable outer box, four buttons including each of the protagonists, and a set of playing cards themed around the characters of the series all for the price of $70. The 4 button set will also be available along for those who preorder the game. Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth will officially be available in the states June 4.
