Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Thieves was released earlier this year in Japan. It is an action RPG with new story set after the events of Persona 5. The game is a collaboration between the Persona team and Koei Tecmo’s Omega Force, who are the developers behind the Dynasty Warriors series. A trailer was released and taken down quickly revealing that the game will be getting a western release on February 23, 2021, under the new title: Persona 5 Strikers. The game will be released for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
The story of Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Thieves picks up half a year after the ending of Persona 5. The Phantom Thieves of Hearts gather together for Summer but find themselves thrust into a new mystery as cases occur throughout Japan. Palaces, the cognitive world of warped adults have returned, and its up to the Phantom Thieves to figure out what is going on.
It’s unclear yet if Persona 5 Strikers will be the same story that was released last year or if it will include the new characters introduced in Persona 5 Royal, which was also released this year. More news is set to be revealed about the game on December 8 as Atlus sent out a tweet about the leaked video.
Persona 5 Royal has been a big success, which isn’t saying much since the original game was also very well received. In July, a new financial report outlined how the game achieved record sales in the West. Atlus also released Persona 4 Golden on PC this year which also did very well for the company. Persona 4 Golden sold half million copies on the platform. Next year, Atlus is set to bring back Shin Magami Tensei with the release of the fifth installment in the series as well as a remaster of Shin Megami Tensei III.
