In an announcement on Steam, 2K revealed the PC requirements needed to run Bioshock: The Collection. Along with the system requirements 2K also provided detailed upgrade instructions for those who purchased the games previously on Games for Windows Live.
People who own Bioshock or Bioshock 2 on Steam or Games for Windows Live will be able to upgrade to the remastered versions for free upon their release. If you purchased a physical copy of BioShock or BioShock 2 or a Games for Windows Live digital copy, there are steps you must go through in order to receive your free remastered version.
Due to the age of the original Bioshock the physical copies did not come with a CD key. Because of this, and in order to get the remastered version on Steam, people must provide their Steam profile information and proof that they purchased the original PC game to 2K Support. The information needed when you file for your ticket includes,
- Your name
- Subject (a quick summary of what’s going on)
- Description (a full explanation of what’s going on)
- Game you’re experiencing an issue with
- Platform (this is either the device or operating system you’re own; examples include Xbox One, iOS, and PC)
- Platform name (your user ID on whatever platform you’re filing a ticket for; an example would be your Xbox Live Gamertag)
Bioshock 2 on the other hand has a much easier method of obtaining the remastered version. All you have to do is enter your Games for Window’s Live key into Steam and the game will be automatically added to your library.
