We’re only a few months away from the long-awaited release of Starbreeze Studio’s Payday 3. The studio released a brand new trailer, albeit in a rather sneaky way. The trailer, appropriately titled Stealth, shows the heist crew attempting to sneak their way through a mission. Of course, since this is Payday we’re talking about, the crew looks absolutely goofy when crouched down altogether, and completely makes the stealth mechanic look like a goofy fun time. It shows both the feature and how Starbreeze plays into the funny aspect of how players might actually use stealth during heists.
Despite the hilariousness of this aspect, the trailer does show that stealth is a viable option should your team choose to use it. We see the team using a skylight to avoid multiple security cameras while taking out guards using non-lethal means when necessary. As we mentioned earlier, the team is seen crouching during this segment, which is a key facet to using stealth in any situation. The team then takes the prize of the heist, throws the bag up to the skyline, and hurries out of the area by taking a zipline off of the property.
While Payday 2 had stealth as an option, it was a terribly viable one as most of the time players would get swarmed by hordes of enemies once the heist was underway. Starbreeze appears to be making it a true choice for teams in their heist, although how well it will play into each one remains to be seen. While Payday 3 had been long confirmed years ago, Starbreeze at long last fully unveiled the title during the Xbox Games Showcase 2023 event last month. Unfortunately, there has also been bit of contention between the fans and the studio as it was confirmed a few days ago that the game will require players to be always online when playing.
