Payday 2 developer Starbreeze revealed today that, of the heist game’s 1.6 million sales, almost 1.3 million were via digital distribution.
Payday 2 certainly did well for itself, becoming profitable on pre-orders alone a full six days before its release. Because of this, according to Starbreeze, the developer has the resources to focus on its own intellectual property. It’s good to see a budget title succeed with a limited physical release, and it’s a reminder of how digital sales have opened the market so much for indies.
