Pathologic Remake Gets Revised Name and New Trailer

Developer Ice Pick Lodge, along with their new publisher Tinybuild, has released new information on the remake of 2005 horror game Pathologic. The remake, which was successfully crowdfunded in 2014 and has since been in development, was given a new official title of Pathologic 2.

The change was made, according to Tinybuild, in order “to avoid confusion,” as a remaster of the original called Pathologic Classic HD was released in October of 2015. Pathologic 2 is a separate title; the plot of the infamously bizarre and creepy original will be carried over into a largely reconstructed and updated game. To accompany the announcement of Pathologic 2, Tinybuild also released a trailer with new footage and gameplay.

In Pathologic 2 (and the original), the goal is survival: players take on the persona of a medic whose mission is to care for a town stricken by a plague and to unravel the mysteries behind it. This weekend at PAX West, an alpha build of the game will be available to play for attendees. The same build will also be sent out to backers of the Kickstarter campaign in order to receive outside feedback on the game’s progress, as Tinybuild has cited an effort to “switch development to a more open approach.”

Pathologic 2 is currently expected to launch in the fall of 2017 for PC, Mac, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. A demo, Pathologic: The Marble Nest, can currently be downloaded on Steam.

Glenn Carreau: Hi! I'm Glenn: recent college grad specializing in interactive arts and media, writer, game creator and connoisseur, pop culture junkie, and semi-professional fan-artist and blogger. In my free time, I function as an unnecessarily specific gaming encyclopedia. I also play the violin, binge crime/detective procedural shows (still not sure why), and do a large amount of digital painting. I'm probably too attached to Dragon Age, but not really inclined to do anything about it. I'm a huge fan of cosplay, foxes, the prose of Jenny Lawson, and Strong Female Characters™.
