Owlcat Games have been incredibly busy as of late, between publishing games from smaller studios like Shadow of the Road and Rue Valley by Emotion Spark Studios or updating their latest game in the form of Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, it’s a surprise that Owlcat has any time to do anything with games that can be considered, for all intents and purposes, finished. And yet here they are, updating their 2021 CRPG Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous.
In this latest free update, Visitors from Morta, the main party meets two guest characters from Children of Morta, a roguelike game from developer Dead Mage. John and Lucy from Children of Morta are sucked into the Worldwound and it’s up to Pathfinder’s Commander to see them back home, though it’s not just characters that they’ve brought, the Morta characters have also brought two new archetypes with them as well, adding even more to the already robust character customization of Wrath of the Righteous.
This collaboration just speaks more to Owlcat Games’ latest endeavors to branch out from developing games, in our view. While this is an update to Wrath of the Righteous and adds more content to their own game, this is also essentially an advertisement for Children of Morta, a very elaborate and high quality advertisement but an advertisement nonetheless. It is really cool to see Owlcat going out of their way to support and collaborate with their fellow developers, as they’re using the resources they have as a result of their successes to help other studios through those harsh opening years that Owlcat themselves so recently went through.
Overall, this is a cool addition to Wrath of the Righteous, a game that is actually on sale for 70% off at time of writing on GOG here as well as an absurdly generous $19 bundle deal on Steam where you receive both Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous Enhanced Edition AND Children of Morta together here. This costs less than either game costs separately and is genuinely one of the best deals all year, so get it while you can!
