Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous Upcoming Major Update Looks to Improve the Gold Dragon Mythic Path

Owlcat’s Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous first released on September 2, 2021 and took the RPG scene by storm, and yet today over 3 years later it’s still receiving updates. Originally, one of the bigger complaints the game had (besides the bevy of gamebreaking bugs that Owlcat has since patched away) was that the late game Mythic Paths available to players: Legend, Devil, Gold Dragon, and Swarm that Walks, where a bit undercooked compared to the paths that are available relatively early in the game. But Devil got its due in the last major patch for Wrath, and now it looks like it’s Gold Dragon’s turn.

Read the full patch notes here, but the gist of it is that Gold Dragon got a major revamp of its own. While still a late game Mythic Path, and thus something you’ll be without for 80% of the game, at least now the reward can stifle a bit of the pain in the wait. Namely, Gold Dragon is redone both visually and mechanically, gaining a new appearance whether or not your patron is the good dragon deity or the evil one, and gaining a boatload of new spells for its spellbook. Wrath of the Righteous, being a power fantasy first and foremost, will definitely make generous use of the latter.

Also available is some early game support for those who want to delve into Gold Dragon early in the way of Domains you can take on Divine casters that will slot in to a few Gold Dragon builds and give you something to work with before you get your hands on the actual good stuff.

And of course there is added story content for these Dragons. Namely the choice between good and evil Gold Dragons was one that is going to be added this patch, allowing players to better realize the fantasy of being a dragon for better or worse. Seeing as this is just the latest patch, players are fully expecting both Swarm and Legend to get a bit of the love as well down the road. Wrath of the Righteous is such a massive labour of love from Owlcat, and these updates just continue to prove it.
