Dying Light is the latest game from Polish developers Techland and, at first look, it’s pretty much their earlier zombie title, Dead Island, with some parkour layered on top. Oh, and it gets dark sometimes.
Likely conceived in a boardroom where at least one person has a hat on backwards, everyone is drinking Pepsi Max and the word “Extreme?!” is written on a whiteboard, Dying Light takes an idea that already worked (made lots of money) and cynically adds something “cool” to the mix to try and keep it fresh.
In all likelihood the story is not going to be Great Expectations, or even The Walking Dead, but it’ll probably be pretty darn fun for a while. Let’s just be thankful someone didn’t mention skateboarding vampires and enjoy the high concept nonsense for what it is.
