Paradox Interactive has announced a new game. According to the Steam description, “Darfall is hero-based RPG city-building game that puts you in the role of a hero who must protect their home and help it grow! During the day, you must grow your hero’s might, find epic loot, master new abilities, and build up your settlement. At night, you must survive the hordes of undead.” The look of the game resembles an illustrated block-style of game. This game is joining the ranks of games published by Paradox Interactive that is a part of their ARC initiative. This initiative is “Finding the Paradox games of tomorrow. There are great up-and-coming developers out there who share our love for deep, endlessly replayable experiences. Small studios that create games which capture the Paradox DNA. Our mission is to find them, and share them with you, the most engaged players in the world.”
Darfall comes from the developer SquareNite. SquareNite is not well known and has not released any games besides Darfall on Steam. According to their twitter page, SquareNite is based in Slovakia and was founded by two guys named Lukas and Martin. They recently added a new member of the team, Erik, and set up a new office space. Their partnership with Paradox was announced on Steam and other social media platforms. With help from Paradox, they were able to start working with a Slovak composer for handcrafted soundtracks. There were overall improvements to other elements of the game as well.
The first public demo of Darfall was released February of last year at Steam Next Fest. There is not a release date yet for Darfall besides saying sometime this year. The future of this game is bright with this new partnership with Paradox. This is a “dream come true” for the developers of Darfall.
