Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Switch Remaster Rumored To Be In-Development

Nintendo is reportedly working on a Paper Mario: Thousand-Year Door Remaster for the Nintendo Switch, according to member from the Famiboard forums. Paper Mario is unique to the Mario franchise because it is a RPG series. First spotted by My Nintendo News, a forum user claims to have been in contact with three sources through LinkedIn regarding the rumor.

The user began their post giving a brief overview of their work as a hobby journalist and their reputation for reporting previous “…accurate Nintendo rumors” to various YouTubers anonymously; making it all the more interesting that they decided to go public with this particular rumor.

“…I usually don’t do this, as I don’t like attention,” said the forum user. “And I hope even after this we will focus on the game, not me. As some of you know, I do hobby journalism behind the scenes and research various things for fun. Some accurate Nintendo rumors that were reported by YouTubers and other sites in the past partially were based on my research. As I said, I don’t like attention and thus always asked everyone to keep me private, which I intend to continue remain private in those stories…”

Unfortunately, the user noted that they only confirmed the alleged release date with two out of the three sources, with the third unable to acknowledge the release date. Regardless, the forum user seemed confident in the information they received, saying that the alleged game was “coming soon.”

“I personally had always wished for TTYD remaster. I never played it on GCN so I’m over the moon excited to finally play it on Switch soon” they concluded.

The last entry in the Paper Mario series was Paper Mario: The Origami King, which was previously released on July 17, 2020. Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door was originally released back in 2004.

Caitlyn Taylor: New media and entertainment have been apart of my life since I was very young, and I don't think that interest will ever go away. When I'm bored, I immerse myself in lore videos no matter the length.
