Palworld’s takeover of the video game industry continues. Following its impressive launch selling over five million copies in three days and becoming the most-played paid game on Steam, developer Pocketpair has announced that the total number of players playing the game has exceeded 19 million. The game also launched into Xbox Game Pass where it has become the biggest third-party Game Pass launch ever.
Breaking things down numbers-wise across console and Windows PC, there are 12 million copies on Steam and 7 million players on Xbox. Recently, Palworld reached a peak of nearly 3 million daily active users on Xbox, making it the most-played game on Xbox platforms at that time.
Speaking to Xbox Wire, CEO of developer Pocketpair, Takuro Mizobe, said: “The response from fans has been tremendous and it’s incredible to see the millions of players around the world enjoying Palworld. This is just the beginning for us and Palworld, and the feedback we’re gathering while in Game Preview will allow us to continue to improve the experience for Pal Tamers across all platforms.”
Palworld has garnered a lot of attention since its release, both good and bad. Many in the community have accused the game of plagiarizing the character models from Pokemon. Last week, The Pokemon Company made an official statement on the game and confirmed that they have launch an investigation to see if Palworld infringed on its IP rights.
