Overwatch’s Newest Hero is Orisa

Blizzard has officially revealed the newest hero being added to Overwatch, Orisa, who is playable now on the game’s public test realm.

According to Overwatch lore, Orisa is a tanky robot built from the scraps of a decommissioned OR15 defense bot, with added personality and functionality.  Orisa’s creator is Efi Oladele, an 11-year-old Numbanian inventor who was teased by Blizzard in the past few weeks and generated host of rumors and speculation leading up to this new hero reveal.  Blizzard has put together a short backstory video for Orisa, which can be seen below.

As far as gameplay is concerned, Orisa is categorized as a “tank” hero, the 6th of Overwatch‘s 24 heroes to be labeled as such.  As per her design as a devensive robot, Orisa’s kit is all about protecting and fortifying her team.  She can deploy a Protective Barrier, which protects herself and her teammates from enemy fire, as well as deploy a Supercharger that buffs all friendly units within a certain range, motivating Orisa to stay with her team as much as possible.  She is also capable of Fortifying her own personal defenses against enemy attacks and interrupts, and can dish out a moderate amount of punishment with her primary fire Fusion Driver, which rattles off rapid-fire shots like a gatling gun.  You can hear a full breakdown of Orisa’s abilities and uses in the new Developer Diary posted by Blizzard below.

Players are encouraged to try out the new hero on Overwatch‘s playable test realm and give feedback before she is ported into the main game.
