Gen.G eSports has made many strives to improve not only the quality of life for their e-athletes, but they have also been making strives to expand their brand beyond just esports. Just recently, as stated in a press release, Overwatch team Seoul Dynasty has partnered with the rising K-pop duo, pH-1 and DaviDior, to create a walk-on track for the team.
The walk-on track is a song most commonly used in general sporting events when a team, player, or competitor walks out onto the main stage. These songs are there to sometimes symbolize something, but it is always to accomplish one thing: to generate the hype from a crowd. “Listening to the walk-on song is like a shot of adrenaline through the body,” said Dynasty player and MVP candidate, Kim “Fleta” Byung-sun. “The track gets us pumped to play, but also keeps us focused and reminds us of our heritage and drive to make our fans proud.”
The walk-on track, titled 82, is named after the country calling code of Korea, and the track’s vocals were done by rapper pH-1. “As a Korean-American living in Seoul, there was no question about hopping on this project to support the Seoul Dynasty,” pH-1 said. “I wanted to represent my city and contribute what I can to the team with my music. I wanted a track with tremendous energy because I know how much influence music can have on team morale.”
In addition, the producer of the track, DaviDior, has a collaborated with many big musical artists for being in the game for such a relatively short about of time. Some of those collaborations include Justin Bieber and DJ Khaled. “I wanted to let the team know that I’m going to support them from beginning to end, and I thought this was a great opportunity to do something innovative and work with the game and team I love,” DaviDior said in the press release. “I want to thank Blizzard and the Seoul Dynasty organization for making it happen, and I expect we’ll see more great collaborations with music and gaming in the future.”

It is just one of the many upcoming lifestyle collaborations that Gen.G eSports is excited to immerse their players in.
