Overwatch Open Beta Now Available To Play On The PS4, PC, and Xbox One

Having had its closed beta back in October, Blizzard’s hyper-highly anticipated multiplayer first-person shooter game (or FPS) Overwatch has slammed open its doors to its open beta–for consumers who pre-ordered the game. But I digress, this is still amazing news!

The beta is available to play across most platforms (PS4, Xbox One, and PC) and fans have pretty much lost their minds from excitement. It’s almost as if Pandora opened her box and Medusa came out–it’s paralyzingly exciting. If you didn’t pre-order, however, you don’t have to miss out on the fun! Fans can collect their beta client through the links list below:

Even better news? All clients are free!
But players beware, especially PC, as this beta does require a lot of space–6.5 GB to 11GB, to be approximate–and Xbox One players are required to own a Xbox Live Gold subscription. Meanwhile, Sony fans get off light, as Playstation Plus is currently not necessary–though that tune will change come launch day of the full game, then Playstation Plus becomes a must.

Right now during the open beta, fans can enjoy content including:

  • All 21 heroes
  • Quick Play, Play vs. AI, Custom Game, and Weekly Brawl modes
  • Tutorial, Practice Range, and Practice vs. AI
  • 12 maps and 4 multiplayer modes
    • Assault: Hanamura, Temple of Anubis, and Volskaya Industries
    • Escort: Dorado, Route 66, and Watchpoint: Gibraltar
    • Assault/Escort Hybrid: Hollywood, King’s Row, and Numbani
    • Control: Ilios, Lijiang Tower, and Nepal

The open beta will continue until May 9th–so if you want your sneak peek at the game for free, now is the time to act! It’s only a few days before this opportunity goes away. The game will return for purchase and open play on its release date, this upcoming May 24th.

Get your open beta Overwatch gameplay on now–the fun lasts until May 9th, until the game goes away until its full launch on May 24th.

Enjoy!
