Overwatch Open Beta Has Been Extended!

Previously covered earlier in the week, many elated fans took to Blizzard’s online, team first person shooter (FPS) Overwatch, to experience an early insight to the game through the developer’s Open Beta. The beta was open for players who pre-order the game, or used specific clients links through Sony, Blizzard, or the Xbox Store. The beta has also been free to play.

Reportedly “millions” of players have logged into the beta to give it a go, with youtube channels playing Live footage of gameplay, and others already reviewing/reporting on classes, characters, weapons, maps, and more!

The fun, however, was dated to end on May 9th (tomorrow!). But after seeing all of the positive buzz and excitement surrounding the early gameplay, Blizzard threw fans a bone, extending the Open Beta until May 10th at 10am Pacific Standard Time. Players can fill the void with the newly released action/adventure series installment, Uncharted 4, to bide the time until Overwatch is officially and fully released on May 24th.

The addition of 24 hours of extra Open Beta gameplay was announced via Blizzard’s battle.net forums. Signed from “The Overwatch Team,” Blizzard gratefully explain the extension in hours is a Thank You to all the players who have enjoyed and participated in the game’s improvement.

Over the last week, we’ve also had the opportunity to listen to your thoughts and opinions on the game; make improvements based on your reports in these very forums; and collect invaluable data just from you playing normally….as a small way of saying “thank you” to our community and the millions of players who’ve logged in so far, we will be extending the Open Beta by 1 day on all platforms.

We can look forward to playing the full version of Overwatch–with ALL maps available, a larger array of weapons, and probably a few surprises too–on this upcoming May 24th on the PS4, Xbox One, and for PC!

Enjoy the last two days of the Overwatch Open Beta–with our addition 24-hour gift. Thanks, Blizzard!
