BlizzCon 2019 is only a few days away and some new information has come in on what Blizzard plans to show gamers at the convention this Friday. According to Polygon and ESPN.com, BlizzCon will reveal Overwatch 2, as well as one new hero that will be added to the series, and a new mode of playing. The new mode of playing is called “Push” and will reportedly focus on PvE.
The new hero that is supposedly being added to the Overwatch series is Echo. Echo is an omnic who was unveiled at BlizzCon 2018 in the “Reunion” trailer. Not much more has been revealed about the new hero but more is likely to be revealed at BlizzCon 2019. The next addition to Overwatch 2 is “Push”. Not much has been revealed about “Push” beyond that the new mode will take place on a map called “Toronto”. According to ESPN.com Overwatch 2 will feature a four-player story mission set in Rio De Janeiro, which is markedly different from the original 6v6 of Overwatch. Fans of Overwatch will reportedly have the chance to play both the PvE story, as well as the new game mode “Push” at BlizzCon 2019.
Blizzard has been rather tight-lipped on what to expect at BlizzCon 2019 and it is currently unknown where these revelations will fit into the BlizzCon 2019 schedule. However, there have been a few leaks that were verified regarding a fourth installment in the main Diablo franchise. Diablo IV images were initially leaked through a magazine called Gamestar and revealed that a book featuring artwork from the first three Diablo games as well as Diablo IV which has yet to be released. BlizzCon 2019 comes at a moment when Blizzard is steeped in controversy, with many choosing to boycott the company over their decision to ban Hearthstone player Blitzchung for voicing his support for his homeland of Hong Kong during a video interview. BlizzCon 2019 will start this Friday November 1st at the Anaheim Convention Center and end on Saturday, November 2nd.
