Bandai Namco Games America have announced that mobile trading card game Outcast Odyssey will be featured at San Diego’s Comic Con this coming July 25 and 26 at 4 pm and 1 pm respectively.
The game, which is being made for iOS and Android devices, will be featured alongside the publisher’s other mobile games at booth #121 on both days.
Outcast Odyssey is a combination of the classic dungeon crawler and the old school trading card game of every Y generationer’s childhood. Gameplay involves exploring dungeons in search of powerful cards, and interacting with other players either by banding together to form guilds or challenging others to card battles.
As you might expect, the cards themselves take center stage in Outcast Odyssey. They can be collected and evolved to create a powerful deck, and feature artwork by several world class artists such as Warren Louw and Chuck Pires. Both men will be at the Bandai Namco booth for an autograph signing on both days.
The game is developed by Magic Pixel Games, a small team founded by former members of EA’s Los Angeles studio that worked on Boom Blox. Shortly after their founding, they were joined by members who had worked at THQ and Activision. Regarding Outcast Odyssey‘s artwork, Lead Designer Jonathan Durr said:
The goal was to have a variety of art styles for the cards in Outcast Odyssey. Chuck Pires, with his vibrant art style, plus Warren Louw and his gorgeous rendering, were exactly the visual game experience that we were after. We were blown away with their contributions to the game and can’t wait to show them off.
Outcast Odyssey is the first of several comic inspired games, as Bandai Namco have also partnered with Red Giant Entertainment Inc., a Florida based Comic Book publisher established recently in 2010.
Other games that will be featured at Bandai Namco’s mobile game lineup include PAC-MAN Friends and PAC-MAN CEDX, both of which will be playable on site.
