Today, Otherside Entertainment revealed some new footage for the next entry in the System Shock Series, System Shock 3. The System Shock Series has been having a revival with System Shock 2 getting an enhanced edition, and System Shock is getting its own remake sometime in 2020. The company had been looking for publisher for the newest entry for quite some time, and it is currently unknown if they have found a new one or are publishing the game themselves. The newest piece of footage comes from Pre Alpha gameplay.
The footage starts off with the rogue AI and main antagonist of the series SHODAN saying, “There is no evil here, only change.” The footage then starts to show the horrifying monstrosities that players will have to face in the new game. The first monster that is shown in this footage is the upper part of a human body attached to a robotic apparatus, with parts of his innards peeking out from where his legs should be. The next monster revealed in the Pre Alpha footage is a grotesque inhuman creatures devouring what appears to be a human corpse. All the while during the footage, SHODAN continues to taunt the player.
The footage ends with SHODAN creepily stating, “Our little dance has only just begun, now comes the reckoning.” Most of the enemies in the footage appear to be modified humans, which can be supported with both the footage of a humanoid entity being carried off somewhere in the beginning of the footage as well as SHODAN’s statement that, “Your species does not, in its current form work as desired, yet you resist.” These pieces seem to imply that the player will be fighting against victims of SHODAN’s machinations within the game, however, this is not yet confirmed.
According to IGN, the game will allow players to explore and play the game however they desire. Players will be able to focus on a number of playstyles such as hacking, sneaking around, or going toe-to-toe with the horrifying monsters that occupy the unknown area that is shown throughout the game. The release date for System Shock 3 is currently unknown, but it will be released for PC eventually.
