Microsoft’s Xbox Series X Reveal Event unveiled some amazing games coming to their next-generation console on Holiday 2020. Among these amazing games was the platform adventure Metroidvania game Ori And The Will Of The Wisps. The reveal was hosted by Moon Studio’s Co-founder and Director of Technology, Gennadiy Korol. Korol promises that Moon Studios has been working hard on a “very very special version of Ori And The Will Of The Wisps” for the Xbox Series X.
Gennadiy goes on to talk about how the Xbox Series X has given Moon Studio the opportunity to create games with a frame rate previously believed to be impossible. He then gives players a sneak peek at what players will be able to experience once Holiday 2020 hits, showing players a comparison between 60 frames per second, and 120 frames per second. According to Gennadiy, the new version of Ori And The Will Of The Wisps will feature 4k high dynamic range imaging as well as 120 fps. The comparisons he shows really do pop out as the images are arguably more vivid in the 120 fps version than the 60 fps, and the animations appear far less sluggish.
Gennadiy goes on to talk about how players will also experience better audio than before, although he doesn’t specify what players will be able to enjoy. While the trailer doesn’t reveal if Moon Studio intends to add anything storywise, lorewise, or mechanic wise to the game, Gennadiy promises that players will have “more options” with how they want to enjoy Ori And The Will Of The Wisps. He finishes the reveal by stating that “We can’t wait for all of you to experience this very special version of Ori.” While no release date is confirmed for this new version, it will likely come out around the same time as the Xbox Series X.
