On December 16th, 2017, Bandai Namco premiered the first trailer for One Piece: World Seeker during Jump Festa 2018. Labeled as “the most ambitious One Piece game ever”, the trailer was displayed upon the conventions’ “One Piece Serialization 20th Anniversary Commemoration! One Piece Game” stage.
Throughout the lifespan of the manga, One Piece has provided a litany of narrative stories and world designs which appear strongly utilized within One Piece: World Seeker as well. Dissimilar from its predecessor, One Piece: Burning Blood, specifically, One Piece: World Seeker prides itself with an open world design aimed to allow free roaming while playing as Luffy with “many paths for players to experience” within the “biggest One Piece game to date”. Enemy encounters and experiences will be foraged within an “expansive and seamless world” derived of beaches, towns, and castles, among other “exciting and diverse” settings detailed in a briefing from Bandai Namco.
In 2016, Bandai Namco released One Piece: Burning Blood, a lively and vibrant fighting based off the manga characters from the series. One Piece: World Seeker certainly exerts a more ambitious stride in comparison with regard to game design, but maintains a similar platform release. Currently, the open world action title is set to release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
The trailer debuted after much anticipation, showcasing the first-look of gameplay which displayed enemy types, premiered a third-person control of Luffy while presenting his Gum-Gum abilities, and hinted of the adoption of stealth mechanics. Similar to other open world titles, One Piece: World Seeker will be enjoyed as a singleplayer, offline experience. The rating is still pending.
While there is no release date set yet, fans know to expect the title within 2018.
