One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 Has Now Sold More Than 2 Million Units

Bandai Namco has revealed that one of their longer-running franchises, One Piece: Pirate Warriors, has reached a brand new milestone. One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 has now sold more than 2 million units in both physical and digital sales, a first for the entire series. The company also stated that One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 is also the fastest entry to achieve this feat, which is impressive considering that it’s been going strong since 2012 with four mainline titles. One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 was released back in 2020 on March 27 for several platforms.

The game features the largest roster of characters to date, with more than 40 playable fighters to choose from. This includes longtime stalwarts of the extremely popular One Piece franchise such as Monkey D. Luffy, Rorona Zoro, Boa Hancock, Jinbe, and Bartolomeo among many other fan favorites. The style is of course in the same vein as Dynasty Warriors, the Musou-style hack-n-slash genre that was created by Omega Force which is Koei Tecmo’s development studio. They’ve also spun off several other famous IPs in this style, such as Gundam, The Legend of Zelda, Fire Emblem, Fist of the North Star, and Persona.

As we already mentioned, One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 is the fastest-selling entry in the series thus far. This can be attributed to several factors, but it more than likely boils down to the massive roster, the collection of different modes that the game offers, and the fact that One Piece has been dominating in nearly every single media aspect for the entire duration of its existence. Speaking of which, the franchise’s English adaptation of the manga has finally reached its 100th volume, one of the few manga series to ever hit that plateau. Hopefully, this means that Omega Force is planning on making more entries in the Pirate Warriors series.
