After about three years in development, the Lantern Studio is gearing up for the release of their first project, Luna The Shadow Dust, later this year. The small indie studio, consisting of a team of four, was greenlighted for the project after receiving enormous backing and support from their Kickstarter campaign back in 2016. The team recently shared the official trailer on their YouTube channel.
Luna The Shadow Dust is a point-and-click style puzzle adventure game, a “word-less storytelling 2D cinematic” project. The story focuses on a young boy and his mysterious companion as they journey through a tower on the edge of their world, which has been tipped out of balance. The two must seek out their lost memories and solve the mystery surrounding the existence of this ancient tower.
The game is single-player but requires the player to alternate control of the two main characters, making the puzzles more challenging. These are designed to challenge not only logic, but also reaction speed and imagination. Players may need to get creative in how they approach these puzzles. The game will also feature original music which players can preview by visiting the game’s sound cloud page. The album is not yet finished, as the studio expects to add to it throughout production.
There was a previously offered playable demo available for online users, but has since been removed. However, Lantern Studio states that a new demo is currently in the works. Judging from their Kickstarter page, it appears that early access to the demo is reserved at the moment. But the team assures that a release for the public will be made available soon.
Luna The Shadow Dust will be playable on PC, and possibly for iOS and Android devices. The game is scheduled to release later this summer, according to the game’s Steam page. Be on the lookout for the possible demo release in the coming months. For more information regarding the storyline, gameplay, or updates to the game’s progress be sure to check out the studio’s official website or Twitter pages.
