During the Xbox Games Showcase, Obsidian took the opportunity to reveal another trailer for their upcoming fantasy survival game Grounded. As the excitement for the game continues on all platforms (even having a countdown to its release on Google), many are enthralled by the world shown in the main character’s backyard. Due to reasons unknown yet, players must navigate tiny characters through the perils and dangers of a backyard environment either solo or with friends.
As the trailer shows off more gameplay footage (included with plenty of laughs), it also shines a satirical light on previous comments made by audiences so far, including the opening line by the narrator “If you’re waiting for the biggest game of the year, wait for Cyberpunk 2077.” Along with that footage, it also shows what appears to be a build mode that allows players to build their own forts and bases to fight off the upcoming insects (such as spiders, ladybugs, and fire ants). From there, players can also build their own weapons such as arrows, spears, axes, and more. Even though there are four main characters to choose from, it looks like Grounded is also giving an option to customize characters further.
As more of this gorgeous environment and art style is revealed, Obsidian continues to poke fun at themselves by revealing that Grounded is not like other games they’ve developed in the past (mainly RPG style games). This real-time interacting game’s most interesting feature is that the plants and insects all interact with each other based on the ever-changing environment. At the time of its release, Grounded will be available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X on July 28th.
Along with Grounded, another brand new RPG style game under the title of Avowed was also revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase as well as the first look at DLC for The Outer Worlds.
