Obsidian Entertainment’s Next Big RPG Avowed Is Now Available For Pre-Order

In the wake of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, another late 90s/early 2000s developer has risen from their tomb to bless the world of RPGs yet again. Obsidian Entertainment (the studio behind fantastic and critically acclaimed RPGs such as Knights of the Old Republic II, Neverwinter Nights II, Alpha Protocol, the Pillars of Eternity series, and of course Fallout: New Vegas) just dropped the pre-order trailer for Avowed, their latest RPG game coming February next year.

Explore the Living Lands, a mysterious island filled with adventure and danger. As an envoy of Aedyr, you are sent to investigate rumors of a spreading plague with a secret that threatens to destroy everything. Can you save the island and your soul from the forces threatening to tear them apart?

Avowed is a first-person RPG, reminiscent of classic titles like the Elder Scrolls series or more recently Cyberpunk 2077. This is an interesting mixup for Obisidian Entertainment though, who most people will associate with their top down CRPG games like Pillars of Eternity, but Obsidian has never been one to stagnant, and have no doubt pulled a lot of inspiration from the aforementioned games as well as the abundance of RPG games that have released in the past several years.

Obsidian have always been known for their narratives, both in terms of character writing and world building, and it looks like the Living Lands will provide plenty of both for players who want another true RPG experience.

Avowed releases next year on February 18th, 2025. You can pre-order now for Xbox Series X|S to play it up to 5 days early if you’re feeling like someone who breaks RPG builds before anyone else can. It includes two premium skin packs and access to the Avowed Digital Artbook & Soundtrack.

Avowed releases for Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Derek Lairmore: I've been playing video games and writing my entire life, so naturally I decided to combine the two passions. I love video games and video game culture, as far back as I can remember I've not only played them, I've actively participated in their communities. I hope my history in this hobby and my enthusiasm for writing helps me convey news to you accurately and succinctly.
