Observer Release Date Announced

Layers of Fear took gamers through the dark mind of a Victorian-era painter as he works to complete his magnum opus while simultaneously spiraling into a dark alcohol-fueled depression.

Now, developer Blooper Team plans to take gamers out of the mind of a deranged painter and into the world of Observer.

In 2084, a megacorporation called Chiron has taken over the government of Poland after a deadly “digital plague” resulted in war and rampant drug addiction. Chiron then created a special police unit known as Observers who “hack” the brains of citizens in order to gather evidence against them.

The new trailer from Blooper Team gives fans a glimpse of the world the team has created, a world where neon signs combine with dark alleys to create the glowing decay that is the trademark of the cyberpunk genre. Throughout the showcase, main character Daniel Lazarski (voiced by Rutger Hauer) lays out the duties of an Observer and the dangerous lives they lead.

“If you don’t remember, if you won’t remember, that’s when they call me. To access you, to gather evidence, to dredge up whatever’s hiding in the darkest corners…”

Stumbling through nightmares only the mind could conjure, he uses a combination of “electromagnetic vision” and “bio vision” to scan his environment and find clues that will help him solve the mysteries presented by the game.

The game will also see the return of the ever-shifting environments found in Layers of Fear, keeping players on their toes by straying away from the linear jump-scares found in most modern horror games, creating a truly unique experience not found in any other game in the genre.

Look for Observer on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on August 15th, 2017.
