Games Workshop’s Warhammer franchise, both the Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40,000 variants, have been a mainstay in tabletop games since before I was born (and that was a long time ago, trust me) and their lineage of video games is almost as long as that. For a while, it wasn’t really possible to acquire a couple of the older Warhammer games on Steam, the most popular PC game client. Until a few days ago, that is. Several Warhammer games have been shadowdropped into the Steam store, and on sale too!

The games released include Warhammer 40,000: Fire Warrior, Final Liberation: Warhammer Epic 40,000, Warhammer 40,000: Rites of War, Warhammer: Mark of Chaos, Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate, Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat, and Warhammer: Dark Omen.
That’s a pretty big list of classic Warhammer games! And you know they are classics because they put (Classic) next to them. As I said, Warhammer is an older franchise, beloved by many. And in the years since these games released and today several things have changed relating to the world and lore of these games, to the point where Fire Warrior is given a disclaimer at the beginning to tell players that the events of the game are dubious in terms of canon.

A hilarious message, though kind of sad as I quite like Shas’O Kais, the main character of Fire Warrior, and always imagined he’s the same Shas’O Kais in Dawn of War as Emperor knows the T’au could use a few more notable names in their roster.
This a deep backlog of Warhammer games, and between these and the constant stream of Warhammer games that get published every year there’s more than enough to occupy any avid Steam user interested in the setting. Enjoy your classic grimdarkness on a new platform!
