Meltdown is a job simulation game where the players are a newly recruited reactor operator for an aging nuclear power plant. Their main task is to maintain the reactor’s stability and keep the city’s power up while dealing with their employer’s antics. Players will need to alight the power grid wires, regulate the water tank’s flow, and prevent the reactor from overheating by tuning the steam ventilation.
Throughout the day they will need to keep the power output balanced, solving problems as they occur or risk them piling up into an explosive disaster. When supplying power to the city, players will need to create a pathway, connecting all the wiring to generate power. However, the reactor may begin to overheat as more electricity is supplied to the city.
Players will need to manage the water tank to cool down the reactor once the core temperature begins to fluctuate. They will adjust the water input and output, figuring out how adjust the reactor’s water level. This flow must be adjusted carefully and quickly as one wrong move could cause the water tank to freeze the reactor.
The players last main task, managing the radiator’s ventilation system, requires that they slow down the heat overload. There will be a pin code located on one of their top right scenes, guiding players on how and in what order they must adjust the vents. The difficulty increases as the reactor starts to strain, leading to problems developing at faster rates.
Meltdown was developed by Team STEP GmbH and is set to release on November 9, 2026. A demo was releases as part of the October 2026 Steam Next Fest and is still available for players to download. Team STEP has stated that it was the team’s first Next Fest and they were amazed by the player engagement with their demo. The game is a singleplayer experience and is certainly one simulation game player’s should add onto their wishlist.
