Video game industry analyst Matt Piscatella has revealed the latest Circana report for the month of November. Overall, compared to last year, consumer spending on video game hardware, content, and accessories fell 7% to $5.8 billion. However, two big things happened in the month that made history. EA Sports College Football 25 has become the best-selling video game sports title in the U.S. The Nintendo Switch has moved to second in all-time units sold across all game hardware platforms in the U.S. now trailing the Nintendo DS with 46.6 million units sold life-to-date.

Video game spending dropped 9% to 4.5 billion compared to last year. November video game hardware spending was flat compared to a year ago, at $927 million. PlayStation hardware spending grew 15% but was offset by a 29% year-on-year drop in Xbox Series spending and a 3% decline in the Nintendo Switch. 2.4 million units of new video game hardware was sold across all platforms which is 4% higher than a year ago. Non-mobile video game subscription spending grew 8% when compared to a year ago with Piscatella noting Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 releasing into Game Pass as the primary factor.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 tops the list as the Best-Selling game of the month. Madden NFL 25 was second, EA Sports FC 25 was the third best-selling game, EA Sports College Football 25 ranked 4th and rounding out the month at 5th was Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero.
Despite repeating as the best-selling game of the month, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is the second best-selling game of the year. EA Sports College Football 25 is number 1 with Helldivers II at 3, Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero at 4, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III at 5.
With these new numbers, EA Sports College Football 25 has passed Madden NFL 07 in October. This month, it pass the previous best-selling sports game in U.S. history, NBA 2K21. Piscatella noted that EA Sports College Football 25 now ranks among the best-selling tracked video games of all-time in dollar sales.
