Yeah, who would have expected this. We live in an age of game reboots. Tomb Raider is reborn with praiseworthy success (not quite as good as expected, but still praiseworthy); Devil May Cry is redistributed – again; Thief will return with a new look; Syndicate is transformed into a FPS; and in general, the movement seems to remake legendary titles for a new generation of gamers.
Now we have Legacy of Kain. We are talking about a historic series in a setting that is between the most complex and evocative ever created, with charismatic protagonists – yet no project has been announced officially. Until now.
Nosgoth will be published by Square Enix and developed by Psyonix. It’s set to take place in the fictional universe of the Legacy of Kain. Square Enix London community manager, George Kelion, has made it clear that Nosgoth will not be a reboot, a mobile game, nor an open world game, but rather derives its influence from the Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, the critically acclaimed game on the PlayStation, PC, and Dreamcast.
