
Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 started with a big reveal as Nodusfall, the latest game by HoYoverse, was announced for the first time. The footage shown indicates a clear shift in tone from some of the developer’s earlier games, complete with a realistic art style for the terrain, characters, and creatures. The cryptic opening and gameplay focus on action indicate that the game will a dark atmosphere with epic battles.
The trailer begins with a figure questioning when the first entanglement was, following up by stating that “none living may now tell.” At the same time, viewers are greeted with a large pillar of light distorting the area around it and seeming to draw in nearby rock. The voice then mentions the ominous weavers, showing many people suspended by strings and hinting at an untold dark nature behind the mysterious figures. Throughout the trailer, the consequences of the calamity mentioned manifest as various monsters, such as dragons, flaming giants, and four-legged predators.
Although gameplay is sparse, viewers do catch a glimpse of the heroes of the story standing together against the coming threat. The characters are shown to have different capabilities, with some wielding light magic and another using a massive sword to hold off a dragon. As the dragon’s rider dismounts, the fight continues as a battle against multiple opponents.
The trailer ends with the heroes approaching a strange floating energy while the voice from the beginning mentions a lotus. The voice leads to the reveal of a dragon before asking if the heroes plan to reweave the world or seek another end. Following the footage shown, the game is revealed to be an action title with co-op play available. In Nodusfall, players will fight in a world where order has been lost as one of many weavers, tying into the themes introduced by the voice in the trailer.
