Nocturnal 2, a Fast-Paced Action-Adventure Game, Will Release November 10th, 2026

Sequels to indie titles are often highly anticipated due to not only continuing the story of the original game, but also to show the new experience the team making the game acquired since the original. This hype was present for the demo release of Nocturnal 2, running from January 27th to May 31st, and giving players their first look at what the new game would feature over the first. Today, developer and publisher, Sunnyside Games has announced the release date for the final game alongside a new trailer on their YouTube channel.

Similarly to the first game, Nocturnal 2 will see players control a melee fighter with fiery abilities in a 2D space. While the first game was quick and focused mostly on combating the Mist as it approached, the second game promises to be longer and have more exploration mechanics according to the Steam store page. The journey will be set mostly in a city on an island inspired by Persian architecture that has fallen into obscurity, with multiple endings explaining the city and island’s fate.

The trailer takes viewers across multiple hand-drawn areas from the new game, including a candle-lit balcony, a castle wall, and a black and white forest. The player character display incredibly high mobility both on the ground and in the air. This mobility is used to keep enemies trapped in combo attacks that shoot fire across the screen to light dark areas. In addition to the regular enemies, the player character also fights a few bosses with attacks covering most areas of the screen and forcing good timing.

With the previous game in the series and the demo receiving such high praise, it is safe to admit that Nocturnal 2 will have many fans eager for its release. The team has promised to keep them updated on details between now and the release date of November 10th, 2026.
