No Man’s Sky dropped a new update earlier today as part of the Beyond game update released this past August. Today’s update focuses on additional content, including special weekend missions, as well as a spotlight on the community. According to the update notes on the No Man’s Sky website, the game is seeing its biggest boom since launch, and the developers are determined to keep the players happy with new content on a regular basis.
The biggest highlight of the update is undoubtedly the weekend missions. “Very shortly, the Space Anomaly’s first weekend mission will go live. Nada’s spacetime loom has detected a concerning pattern resonating across the universe, and they need help from their explorer friends to investigate. Readings indicate a disturbance in reality, where an anomalous – and possibly sinister – force has begun to leak through to this universe.” The missions aim to bring players together on a featured planet to tell a story continuing over the next few months. In addition to more of the universal lore, players can expect to earn some bonus quicksilver rewards from participating.
The developers stress that the game is fundamentally built on what the players bring to the game. To celebrate this, the game will highlight Featured Bases that players themselves have created. Using the Space Anomaly Teleporter, players can view the featured player bases and even visit their favorites. If you are one of the more creative types, set on building more so than visiting, the developers want you to send them your creations. Simply post your base with “portal coordinates, current galaxy, username and platform” to allow them to find it easily and possibly feature it in the future.
Update 2.15 is live now in No Man’s Sky across all servers. You can check out the full patch notes on the game’s website as well.
