Everybody say, “Happy Birthday, No Man’s Sky!” The space exploration game was released 5 years ago on August 9, 2016, to much disappointment and unmet expectations. No Man’s Sky had received a lot of hype before its launch, even winning awards for it, but when players were allowed into the game it was buggy and missing multiplayer features to which many gamers had been looking forward. It was the butt of jokes for a while until it faded out of the general public’s focus.
However, the game developers have not been sitting idly by watching their game fall into disrepair. The game has received plenty of features, and plenty of expansions. Some of the new features have been essential to the game, including long-awaited multiplayer features, VR compatibility, more storylines, and the ability to build bases. There have also been 16 free expansions, and with an announcement made for the anniversary, a 17th is on the way. Hello Games is teasing the next expansion, No Man’s Sky: Frontiers, with a video celebrating the history of the game.

It hasn’t always been easy, but the thing that has been our guiding star throughout has been the players and the community 🙏
Behind every update, every video, every feature and line in a patch note is a team that cares so deeply for this game 😭

There is not much more known about Frontiers other than the name, but developers have promised more information will come soon. No Man’s Sky has redeemed itself and is now considered a fleshed-out, fan-favorite game, and it will be fun to see just what the hard work of the developers will bring in the future.
