It looks like we can add yet another big AAA title to the March lineup. In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Team Ninja Producer Fumihiko Yasuda announced that their upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive Nioh 2 will officially launch on March 13, 2020. We also got a small taste of things to come with a brand new trailer, showcasing the enemy types as well as the combat.
Yasuda elaborated that it took a while for them to finalize a release date because they were trying to bring in more ideas while keeping the core aesthetics from the previous game in the series: “One of the primary reasons for not rushing to set a launch date was to ensure that we can achieve a “genuine evolution” from Nioh, which to us meant that we needed to bring in fresh new elements while retaining the things that we felt were right from the first game.”
Yasuda went onto state that despite little to no changes from the Alpha that started earlier this year, he feels that the team is ready to move forward with the games development. In addition, the open Beta that was mentioned in September is coming up this week. Starting on November 1 through November 10 players will be able to participate in a newer build of the title.
This includes customizing your character, and trying out the Switchglaive weapon. On top of that, those who complete the Beta will obtain a special title called “The Mark of the Demon Slayer” which gives you the Kamaitachi Helmet in the full game. It sounds like this Beta is going to be a real challenge, and if we know the die hard player of games this difficult, they’ll dive headfirst into this one.
This wasn’t the only thing Yasuda talked about. He also announced that Nioh 2 is now available to pre-order on the PlayStation Store, which Yasuda says will include “valuable bonus items.” We’re not sure how much these will come in handy, but the more help we have to start this game off the better. Either way, this is exciting news for everyone that’s been waiting on this release date.
