Everybody loves retro games, to the older gamers out there they are a fun trip filled with nostalgia and for younger gamer they’re a glimpse back to the early days of gaming. Also they’re still damn good. Knowing the popularity of its library and the success of other retro games like Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow Nintendo decided to release a small sampling of its most popular games from one of its best-selling consoles the NES.
Instead of going for a boring disc with all the games loaded on it, Nintendo decided to lay into the nostalgia and retro angle by stuffing all the games into a miniaturized version of the NES. According to Kotaku, the device will cost $60 and come with an HDMI cable, a power adapter and a NES Classic Controller which is “patterned after the iconic design of the original NES controller.” The controller isn’t only designed for the mini-NES, in an article from The Verge, it’s said that the controller can also connect to a Wii remote to play Virtual Console games as well. The console may only come with one controller, but if you’re in the mood for some classic couch co-op VG24/7 says you can purchase another controller for $10.
Loaded onto the console are thirty of Nintendo’s more popular NES titles including Mario, Zelda, Metroid and Punch-Out!!!, you can see the full list below.
