Yesterday (Thursday, January 5), Nintendo announced via Twitter that they will be hosting a Treehouse Live event to showcase some of the games for the upcoming Nintendo Switch console. The event will take place on Friday, January 13 at 6:30am PT / 9:30am ET. This will be coming right after another livestream on January 12 at 8:00pm PT / 11:00pm ET, which will be focused on the Switch itself, as well as possibly revealing the specific launch date, price of the console and launch titles. Both livestreams will be viewable from Nintendo’s YouTube and Twitch channels.
Yesterday, there was news that the new Zelda: Breath of the Wild may be a launch title for the Switch, at least in North America and Japan. In an article from The Wall Street Journal last year, it seemed to be confirmed that there will be a Pokémon game for the Switch, but it is unknown if it will be a launch title or not. Other confirmed Switch games include Dragon Quest XI, Just Dance 2017 and a new Sonic game tentatively titled Project Sonic 2017. Once again, it is not known at this time whether any of these will be launch titles. It is also expected from the Switch reveal trailer from last year (below) that there will be ports, or perhaps new versions, of Wii U games, such as Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon, for the Switch. Between the two events on January 12 and 13, we can be sure to expect a good look into the Switch’s launch roster, whatever it may be.
