The Nintendo Switch has seen a fantastic run as the best selling console in the past 10 years, now reaching a total of just over 146 million units sold. The system has, however, seemed to have hit a deep dive in their sales as of late. This isn’t all bad though, as President of Nintendo, Shuntaro Furukawa, has assured a release of the Switch 2 in Spring of 2025.
Nintendo recently revealed that expecting sales of the to be around 10% lower then they had predicted, predicting the Switch to only sell around 12.5 million units instead of the initially predicted 13.5 million units. The September quarter also saw a major loss in the sales of the seven year hardware, with a loss of 29% or ¥67 billion.
However, this news was paired with President of Nintendo, Shuntaro Furukawa, recently confirming at the earnings call, that a Spring time release in 2025 (aiming for end of March) for the successor to the Nintendo Switch is still on track for with where they are in the development process. Rumors claimed that development on the Switch 2 was “complete” and although Furukawa didn’t give a definitive date, his hopes track with a Spring time release.
Nintendo also hit a sales milestone of 1.3 billion units sold in software. Below shows how their games have been selling:
