Nintendo Switch Price Drops By $40 in the United States

Nintendo has seen a lot of success in 2021 and 2022 with their games and consoles. Despite this success, Nintendo has actually dropped the price of their most popular console in the United States.

Nintendo has officially reduced the price of the Nintendo Switch in the United States. The price of a Switch in the U.S. will now be $259.99, which is a very reasonable $40 price reduction from the long-standing $300 price tag. This reduction is coming as a sale at Amazon, Walmart, and Gamestop.

This price reduction should not come as too large of a surprise since many other countries have seen the console reduce in price over the recent months. Back in September of 2021, Europe saw the price reduction of the Switch right before the OLED model was released. Many people at the time believed that the U.S. would see a reduction as well, but Nintendo actually chose to keep the price steady.

There is currently no indication from Nintendo on whether the price reduction will be permanent or if they are only doing this for a limited-time sale. While the price reduction begins as a sale, fans should not be surprised if Nintendo makes the reduction permanent in order to drive in even more sales to the hit console.

The Nintendo Switch has become one of the most popular Nintendo consoles, and gaming consoles in general since it was released in 2017. After Nintendo released its 2021 fiscal year details, Nintendo revealed that the console is currently the third most purchased in Nintendo’s history. The Switch has sold 107.65 million units, which only trails the Nintendo DS (154.02 million units) and the Game Boy (118.69 million units). As the console continues to add more games and content, fans should expect this number to continue growing and potentially even passing the other two consoles.
