Yesterday, Nintendo officially announced their line-up of events for their upcoming participation in PAX East 2023. Some of the events listed include: the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Championship Cup 2023, the Splatoon 3 North American Championship 2023, the NintendoVS arcade booth and a sweepstakes event. PAX East will be held in Boston, Massachusetts from March 23-26, each day of which will include something to do from Nintendo.
For starters, the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Championship Cup will begin with qualifier rounds on March 25th, where anyone can attend and compete. The winners of those qualifier rounds, as well as the top players of the game will then compete for the Championship Cup on the 26th. The Splatoon 3 North American Championship on the other hand will work differently from the Mario Kart tournament. The Splatoon tournament is an invitational where top players will compete against each other for prizes such as memorabilia and trophies. This tournament will occur shortly after the Mario Kart event finishes.
These tournaments have been set for PAX East for their accessibility to fans, as the Vice President of Player & Product Experience at Nintendo of America, Bill Trinen states (as quoted from an article by MyNintendoNews):
“We are always finding ways to create a more consistent, fun and welcoming competitive environment for our players and fans Having the finals of Splatoon 3 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at PAX East offers a way for these outstanding players to showcase their skills in front of an audience, while also inviting fans to get in on the action!”
Elaborating on the events set up for the casual fans, there will also be a NintendoVS arcade booth, where players can play a variety of games, regardless of experience. Some of these games include: Mario Party Superstars, Mario Golf: Super Rush, New Super Mario Bros. Deluxe, Yoshi’s Crafted World and the original Super Mario Bros.
Finally, there will also be sweepstakes available for fans who sign up. Every day of PAX East from March 23-26, Nintendo is holding sweepstakes to give away three Nintendo-themed gaming chairs. This is not exclusive to those who are physically attending PAX East. All fans have to do is sign up through a QR code on their website and they are eligible for these chairs.
With PAX East less than a week away, it is exciting to see what they have planned, with plenty of events and giveaways available to satiate eager attendees.
