Today Nintendo uploaded the official Switch unboxing video via their YouTube channel. The eleven-minute video begins with a look at the box the Switch comes in, then the contents are revealed.
The actual Switch console is very small, as far as consoles go, looking to be about the size of an iPad Mini. But since the Switch doubles as both a home console and a handheld console, another way to look at it is it’s pretty big for a handheld console. All of the buttons and switches on the Switch console were showcased, including the volume buttons, power button, headphone jack and the game card input. There is also a space for an SD card underneath the Switch’s kickstand.
Both of the Joy-Con controllers was shown, each one being slightly different from the other. For example, the right Joy-Con has the ability to read Amiibo figures while the left Joy-Con has a screenshot button, allowing the player to take screenshots at any time.
The dock, which is used when the Switch is being used as a home console, contains two USB ports on its side. If you open up the back of the dock, you will find another USB port and ports for the AC adapter and HDMI cable.
Other contents included in the box are the manual, two Joy-Con straps, the Joy-Con Grip (which allows players to use the Joy-Con controllers as a traditional controller), HDMI cable and AC adapter. Unlike the Wii or Wii U, the Switch does not come with any bundled games. The Switch becomes available on March 3 and will cost $299.99.
