Last week the Splatoon 3 North America X account shared a post about a new song from Splatoon 3 titled Three Wishes. This song is from the newly formed collaborative idol group Now or Never Seven, composed of Splatoon‘s three major idol groups the Squid Sisters, Off the Hook, and Deep Cut. Three Wishes is said to be about the idols’ wishes for their respective teams, Past, Present, and Future. The Grand Festival is Splatoon 3‘s final Splatfest, a limited-time event centered around a theme or question requiring players to pick an option and compete in the themed Turf War battles to win points for their team. Players compete in Turf War battles in order to gain points for said team.
The last two years since Splatoon 3‘s release on September 9, 2022 have led to this point as the final Splatfest is a highly anticipated event for fans. Final Splatfests are a tradition in the Splatoon series as the original Splatoon game saw the game’s idol duo Squid Sisters go head to head to figure out who was more popular in Callie vs Marie, with Marie winning. Splatoon 2 followed suit and took a different approach to the final Splatfest with it’s idol duo, Off the Hook’s Pearl and Marina choosing between a more abstract theme with Chaos vs Order, which ended in Chaos taking the win. Each result shaped the next game that followed, with Squid Sisters’ Callie taking on a more villainous role in Splatoon 2 when she teamed up and in Splatoon 3 the idea of Chaos shaped the game hub word Splatsville, a new location for the Splatoon franchise. With Splatoon 3‘s Grand Festival this could mean that fans, once again, have the choice to influence a potential successor to Splatoon 3.
Fans can sing along to the officially translated and transcribed lyrics for Three Wishes in their choice of Japanese or English
This song will be performed during Splatoon 3‘s Grand Festival Splatfest at the Giant Clam stage located at the Grand Festival venue starting Sept. 14th at 5:00 PM PDT to Sept 15th at 4:59 PM PDT, according to Splatoon North America’s X account
Now or Never Seven came to be during an interview featured on the official Splatoon 3 website titled Interview: The Great Big Three-Group Summit! This interview included all three idol groups that make up the Splatoon franchise. During this in-universe interview, the idols expressed a want to collaborate together for a change. This came after Ian BGM more formally known as Deep Cut’s Big Man collaborated with the Squid Sisters and Shiver and Frye of Deep Cut collaborated with Off the Hook. The name Now or Never Seven is based on the battle song Now or Never, which all three of the idol groups have their version of.
That’s not all, Splatoon fans pick their Splatfest teams in-game starting this week on September 1st. While players wait for the Splatfest to begin on Sept 12th, they can pick up free in-game items, including new headgear and Splashtag banners, from the Nintendo Switch News app on the Nintendo Switch. The headgear items are themed after the seven idols’ headpieces that can be seen in the Three Wishes artwork. The banners are themed after the three Grand Festival teams, one for each respective team.
