Nintendo Releases New Patch For Pokemon Scarlet and Violet And Acknowledges Its Bugs

Nintendo has been notoriously silent on the fallout from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s release. The game has been subject of ire from the entire gaming community, trending on Twitter for days and with hundreds of threads documenting the game’s performance hindering bugs. Thankfully, Nintendo has officially acknowledged Scarlet and Violet’s many issues in its latest software update.

“We are aware that players may encounter issues that affect the games’ performance.” said Nintendo. “Our goal is always to give players a positive experience with our games, and we apologize for the inconvenience. We take the feedback from players seriously and are working on improvements to the games.”

Despite Nintendo’s acknowledgment of the performance issues Scarlet and Violet experienced on launch, the statement and even the patch notes for the update remain vague. Its a similar call back to Scarlet and Violet’s first patch on November 10, whose patch notes had little information for fans to go off of. All that we can discern from the recent patch notes is that the new update only introduces Season 1 of Ranked Battles, and fixes an issue that “…caused the music to not play correctly during the battles with the Elite Four and the Top Champion in the Victory Road path.” As for the rest of the fixes, Nintendo stated that “…other select bug fixes have been made.”

Nintendo’s efforts to fix the mistakes that hindered Scarlet and Violet’s performance are reassuring. However, their lack of transparency continues to irritate fans. At the moment, fans are divided on the improvement of the game since the patch is so new, but given that the update was only 1 GB in size, the changes are unlikely to be significant.
