One of Nintendo’s most influential and popular franchises, Metroid, has left fans begging for more information regarding the latest game in the series for years. Announced in 2017, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has built an enormous amount of hype for its release. This year, more information than ever has been revealed, culminating in the game’s release in December. Today, Nintendo unveiled another action-packed trailer for the game.
The opening shot sees Samus flying through a massive battle in her iconic ship. When she lands, she is greeted by the lush landscape of the game’s new planet. The crisp visuals show off the impressive upgrade that the Switch 2 provides. Following the landing shot, the camera then accompanies Samus to alien spires surrounded by violent storms and then to a cavern alight with an eerie red glow. Next, the trailer shows off the game’s 1st person mode, a staple of the series. Map layouts, suit configuration, and health are all visible from within Samus’ helmet, while the fresh perspective has unique effects on light visible in a sand area.
In the second half of the trailer, Samus begins encountering various foes, including snow predators, flying robots, and strange yellow aliens. Her arm cannon and charge shots should be familiar to any fans of the character, being mixed in with usage of her morph ball ability to dodge attacks during fights. Players also get a chance to see Samus on a motorcycle-like vehicle racing across both a constructed road and sandy terrain. The trailer ends with Samus gazing up at Sylux descending down to meet her.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is one of the most anticipated games Nintendo has scheduled to release this year, with new trailers and footage only adding to the community’s excitement. The game will be available on both Switch systems on December 4th, 2025, with three compatible amiibos releasing by December 6th.
