Nintendo’s newest Animal Crossing game, New Horizons, came out last year during quarantine enforcements with a flurry of activity. For many, it was a saving boon upon launch, and is currently the second highest-selling game on the Nintendo Switch after Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, boasting over 32 million copies sold as of March 2021.
When it was first released, and for a while after, there were plenty of steady updates to the game, both seasonal and in general. Features like swimming, art curation, fireworks, and cherry blossoms were all welcomed with open arms. But as time passed, the updates came more sparingly and with less new content. Many of the more recent events have been lackluster, and for many of them the only updates have been new cosmetics. This was true for even the anniversary event of the game that occurred around March 20. Fans have been disappointed and worried about the lack of updates for this game for some time now.
However, on July 27, Nintendo tweeted a teaser for upcoming updates to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, finally. A free update to the game will arrive on July 29, 2021, which will involve fireworks and new seasonal items. They also promised that more substantial content is in development, and information and news will be made available in the future, hopefully sooner rather than later. Fans of previous Animal Crossing games are vocal about what they want, and maybe those nostalgic characters and features will make appearances in the latest game of the series. Be sure to keep an eye out for updates coming soon.
In addition to these updates, more free content for #AnimalCrossing: New Horizons is currently in development for later this year. More information will be shared in the future, so please stay tuned. Thank you for your support and patience.
