Nintendo Introduces Missions and Rewards for Nintendo Switch Online Members

On Monday, Nintendo announced a Missions & Rewards feature for Nintendo Switch Online allowing members to complete missions to earn My Nintendo Platinum Points. These Platinum points can be used for exclusive rewards, including digital wallpapers, physical items from the My Nintendo Store, and member-exclusive icon elements to customize your Switch user icon.

Weekly missions will be available for active Nintendo Online users, and they appear relatively simple to achieve. Some missions include playing games that support Online Play, backing up your save data once per week, playing specific games from the Nintendo Entertainment System, playing game trials, and even using the Nintendo Switch Online app per week. March’s Mission & Rewards will be available until April 4th at 6:00 pm PDT. Additionally, rewards will rotate every Monday at 6:00 pm PDT.

An interesting feature included with this update is icon elements, which allow you to customize your user icon by redeeming Platinum Points for exclusive details, such as frames, characters, or backgrounds. These elements can be combined to create your own user icon that other Nintendo Switch players can see when you’re online. Icon elements will be refreshed and updated each week.

Each month will have a different theme for icon elements, with this month’s theme focusing on Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Super Mario Odyssey. Characters from Super Mario Odyssey and residents from Animal Crossing: New Horizon with birthdays in March will be available to redeem along with exclusive icon backgrounds and frames from these games. These specific icon elements will be available until April 3rd.

Users with an active Nintendo Switch Online membership can access these new features by using the Nintendo Switch Online icon located at the bottom of the Switch home menu screen. More information regarding this update can also be found in the Nintendo Switch Online app via console.
