Nintendo Indie World Showcase May 2022: ElecHead, Gunbrella, Another Crab’s Treasure, & More

Today, Nintendo showcased and revealed 20 new indie games coming to the Nintendo Switch. 4 of the games shown are available today including Mini Motorways, Soundfall, OPUS: Echo of Starsong – Full Bloom Edition, and Gibbon: Beyond the Trees. “Nintendo Switch continues to be a premier destination for players to experience a diverse array of imaginative and breathtaking games, thanks to the passionate work of our dedicated independent developers,” said Steve Singer, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Publisher and Developer Relations. “With today’s look at some of the indie games in store for 2022 and beyond, Nintendo Switch owners have a packed lineup of remarkable titles they can look forward to playing anytime, anywhere.” Below is a rundown of everything that was revealed during today’s presentation.

Ooblets has players growing and training oblets, adorable little creatures. You can customize your character, befriend the locals, decorate your house, craft items, and more. Players can also dress up their ooblet pals, play minigames, and explore a variety of locations across Oob, each with their own unique obblets, characters, quests, and items. The game will be available sometime this Summer.

Batora: Lost Haven is a nonlinear, story-driven, interplanetary action RPG that combines the features of a hack-and-slash game and a twin-stick shooter. After a mysterious and devastating event, a 16-year-old girl named Avril, gifted with extraordinary powers, has to save the planet. Avril will explore colorful and mesmerizing worlds where she’ll have to leverage the power of her body and mind to face the challenges and obstacles she’ll encounter along the way. Batora: Lost Haven will launch on the Nintendo Switch this Fall.

ElecHead is a 2D puzzle-platformer developed by a one-person development team and prototyped as part of a school contest. Players will star as Elec, a small robot on a mission to bring back light to the world. As Elec touches walls, floors, platforms, and switches, he activates them by making electricity run through them. He also has the ability to detach and throw his head to trigger things remotely but if Elec doesn’t get his head back within 10 seconds, he’ll shut down. ElecHead launches on Nintendo Switch This Summer.

Soundfall is a fast-paced, rhythm-based dungeon crawler that combines loot-shooter action with musical gameplay. Players will star as a Guardian of Harmony – a musical genius transported to the world of Symphonia by the Composers to battle the forces of Discord. Players will have to time their actions to the music to increase their power. Soundfall features more than 500 pieces of equipment for skill customization and thousands for loot combinations. You can play solo or with up to four players in local and online multiplayer to fight through dynamically generated levels and encounters inspired by the music. The game features more than 140 songs to choose from. Soundfall is available today.

Wildfrost is a tactical roguelike deck builder where you will build and customize your deck as you set off to put an end to the eternal frost. Players can customize and upgrade cute companion cards and expand a hub town during each run to unlock new items, events, and challenges. The game will be available sometime this Holiday.

Total Accurate Battle Simulator is coming to Nintendo Switch this Summer where players will watch unbalanced infantry compete in clashes across the ages. With the unit creator, players can make new wobblers, in addition to the 100+ ones at the player’s disposal.

Gunbrella is a noir-punk adventure game where players take on the role of a gruff woodsman on a quest for revenge, armed with the mysterious Gunbrella. The investigation puts the woodsman entangled with the inner workings of ghouls, gangsters, cops, cultists, and other increasingly bizarre characters in a world rapidly losing its natural resources. Players will have to scavenge for scraps and spare parts to upgrade the Gunbrella to glide, swing, dash, dive, and take out enemies in gritty side-scrolling combat. Gunbrella launches on Nintendo Switch in 2023.

We Are OFK is an interactive making-of-the-band journey about dreaming, dating, and paying rent in Los Angeles. The game is played as an animated narrative series released as weekly episodes. The game launches on Nintendo Switch this Summer.

SILT is a puzzle-adventure game where players will explore a surreal underwater realm filled with strange machinery, ancient ruins, and dangerous ocean inhabitants. Players can possess sea creatures and harness their abilities to solve puzzles, and travel deeper into the darkness. SILT will be available on Nintendo Switch next month.

In Mini Motorways, players will draw and build roads to create a bustling metropolis, redesigning the city to keep traffic flowing while carefully managing upgrades, like highways and roundabouts, to meet changing demands.

Wayward Strand is a heartfelt narrative adventure set in 1970s rural Australia where players play as intrepid teenage journalist Casey Beaumaris and follow the inhabitants of a flying hospital. As you uncover the airship’s mysteries, stories of over a dozen characters will unfold around you in real time. Each playthrough gives players the opportunity to discover something they didn’t see previously as they get to choose which stories they want to be a part of. Wayward Strand arrives July 21.

Cult of the Lamb features a randomly generated world. As a possessed lamb saved from annihilation by a foreboding stranger, you need to repay your debt… by creating a local community of woodland worshippers. Players will have to gather resources to build structures, then brave deadly dungeons. The game will be available on Nintendo Switch sometime this year.

Another Crab’s Treasure puts players in the role of Kril the hermit crab. You’ll need to use the trash around you as a shell to withstand attacks from enemies. Kril will embark on an epic treasure hunt to discover the dark secrets behind the polluted ocean, with more than 50 potential shells to discover and a host of dangerous enemies to overcome. Another Crab’s Treasure launches on Nintendo Switch next year.

Card Shark, A Guidebook of Babel, OneShot: World Machine Edition, Cursed to Golf, and Idol Manager were also showcased.
