Today, Nintendo held its latest Indie World showcase, revealing some of the indie titles coming to Nintendo Switch and other platforms. The showcase provided some release dates for some long-delayed games along with some surprise releases. Here is a rundown of everything that was revealed during the Nintendo Indie World showcase April 2023.
Mineko’s Night Market is a narrative adventure-sim where players will do various jobs, befriend the townsfolk and craft all sorts of doodads. Side activities include joining parades, entering cat races, and performing on stage. Mineko’s Night Market is coming to Nintendo Switch on September 26. My Time at Sandrock is the sequel to My Time at Portia where players will gather resources to assemble machines, transform a derelict workshop into a finely tuned facility, venture into ancient ruins on the search for relics, and fight off monsters in melee combat. My Time at Sandrock is coming to Nintendo Switch this Summer. PlateUp! is coming to Nintendo Switch in October where players create, decorate, and automate the restaurant of their dreams. Quilts and Cats of Calico is an adaptation of the tabletop game Calico with the twist of attracting cats that you can customize. The object of the game is to place pieces on a board and sew buttons to score points. The game is coming to Nintendo Switch this Fall. Rift of the Necrodancer is a spinoff of Crypt of the NecroDancer. Fight against monsters with a musical twist to lane-based combat. There are fiver characters each with their own storylines and unique minigames that you can play. Rift of the Necrodancer launches on Nintendo Switch this year.
Nintendo also revealed some DLC coming to indie titles that have been featured in past Indie World showcases. A Little to the Left is getting a Cupboards and Drawers DLC with 25 new puzzles being added to the game as players explore the world of small spaces, secret compartments, and surprising bits and bobs stuffed in every drawer. The DLC launches in June. Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon is getting a free Puzzle Pack DLC. the new pack adds two newly playable characters, Quandary challenges, all in the perplexing halls of Castle Quandary. Over 20 in-game hats can modify runs or players can pick up new relics. The Puzzle Pack is coming to Nintendo Switch this Spring. Cult of the Lamb: Relics of the Old Faith is a free update for Cult of the Lamb with dozens of new items, relics, and enemies scattered across remixed dungeons, with new versions of the four guardian bishops. There are new buildings that can be constructed, a new unlockable quest, and three new game modes: Permadeath, Gauntlet, and Boss Rush. Relics of the Old Faith is coming next week on April 24.
ANIMAL WELL is set to arrive on Nintendo Switch early 2024. In this atmospheric pixelated world, you’ll search for treasures as you gradually uncover a dense environment. Where you go is entirely up to you. Many interesting creatures live here, but some might be hostile, so stay alert. Any items you’ve picked up can be used in a number of ways, like making a quick getaway or even having friendly creatures help you out in a pinch. Crime O’Clock is a puzzle-exploration game with over 40 cases to solve across time and space with many eras to visit including the Lost Age to a cybernetic future. In each era, players will see how crime scenes develop for different time ticks. Taking action in one era will affect events in another. Crime O’Clock launches on Nintendo Switch June 30. Teslagrand 2 has been announced. Players will harness electromagnetic powers to solve physics-based puzzles and move seamlessly through Scandinavian-inspired environments. Tesla Remastered was also announced. The Remastered version will feature enhanced visuals and 10 extra challenge levels. Both games are available today. Shadows over Loathing is a slapstick RPG full of silliness and stick figures set in the 1920s within the West of Loathing universe. Players will venture through a sprawling black-and-white world filled with talking frogs, sentient math and eldritch horrors. Blasphemous 2 has been announced. Players will explore a dark world that’s faithful to the original game with its skill-based combat and tricky platforming elements, that also improves upon its signature pixel art style and the range of abilities at your disposal. The game is set to arrive on Nintendo Switch this Summer. OXENFREE II: Lost Signals launches on Nintendo Switch on July 12. Five years after the events of the first game, Riley returns to her hometown of Camena to research strange electromagnetic waves. Tune the radio to communicate with supernatural beings and manipulate the world around you. And watch out for a shadowy cult attempting to open a reality-altering portal. As you explore the town, Riley can communicate with the locals with the new walkie-talkie conversation system. The choices players make will have an impact on Riley’s development, relationships and the story.
Nintendo also highlighted several more new indie games arriving on Nintendo Switch in the future. This includes Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, Paper Trail, Little Kitty, Big City, Chants of Sennaar, Brotato, and Escape Academy: The Complete Edition.
