The Nintendo Switch has only been out for a few days now, and already fans have discovered a secret easter egg planted in the system’s hardware.
On the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, which sells separately from the core console for $69.99, a message is hidden under the right joystick. If you tilt the stick all the way down and peer in just right, you can make out the characters “THX2ALLGAMEFANS”, Nintendo’s cheeky way of saying “Thanks to all game fans!”.
The secret message was likely discovered simultaneously around the world by a number of curious fans, but first credit for posting the discovery seems to go Japanese twitter user @geo_stream, who tweeted his findings along with these accompanying images:
One day after this tweet was posted, Reddit user /u/Tropiux shared the same images in a post on the official Nintendo Switch subreddit, bringing the secret to the attention of many more people. Users on the site suggest shining light into the port if you can’t see the message at first, which is apparently actually down on the controller’s circuit board and thus not always immediately evident.
Nintendo Switch Pro Controllers, as well as the other Nintendo Switch Accessories, are available at Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, and Target.
